It's far from the time to sound the SOS, but the A-League is probably due for some big name marquee reinforcements like Socceroos hero Tim Cahill.

Since Alessandro Del Piero’s stint at Sydney FC ended, the competition has had somewhat of lull in terms of serious star power.
Cahill would fit that bill to a t.
Not only is he one of the best national team players in our history, he is also still playing at the top of his game.
Talk is Melbourne City are leading the race and that looks like a good destination for him too. With the money the Manchester City group have at their disposal, he would undoubtedly fit in their price range.
It will also help the second Melbourne club in their battle to attract supporters from crosstown rivals the Victory.
Obviously, the Victory have 12 years of history to build off and a marquee deal is only a short team investment.
But Cahill will still be a huge draw card for fans yet to decide their allegiance.
For City, his arrival would definitely be a big positive.
There is no doubt there will be other clubs looking to secure his services too.
That said, the big name marquee won’t be what every club is after.
Some clubs aren’t likely to want the circus involved with securing a player of his status.
With him in your team there will be a fair bit of added pressure to perform.
That pressure will also fall on Cahill as he has to become accustomed to playing in front of the Australian football supporters week in, week out.
Doing that isn’t something he has had to do while in China and only really comes around when he pulls on a Socceroos jersey.
If the past is proof of anything though, it has shown he’s almost always ready to rise to the challenge.
Meanwhile, while Cahill mulls over a move home another Socceroos great is also rumoured to be on his way back.
Mark Schwarzer was linked with the Perth Glory earlier this week.
As a goalkeeper and at the age he is, he is obviously a completely different kettle of fish to Cahill.
He will turn 44 during next season and while he has been a part of two English Premier League title winning squads in recent seasons, he has hardly been sighted on the pitch.
At best he could probably suit up for another couple of A-League campaigns, but in my opinion a player of his calibre is certainly worth still snapping up.
Albeit, as a goalkeeper he probably doesn’t provide the marquee value of a man like Cahill.
