That is exactly what Silent Yoga is and it is coming to Wollongong this weekend.
Combining yoga, music and glowing headphones is becoming big in Melbourne. All the equipment is being sent up so 100 people can try it out this Sunday morning at Thirroul Dance Academy.
Those who do will be in their own space and only be able to hear the instructor and the music literally in their own head. The idea is for external noise and distractions to become almost non existent as participants get to experience a fusion of traditional yoga and the latest audio technology.
Glow – Silent Yoga is being brought to Wollongong by Alexandra Blake and Alita Ashcroft of Envie Fitness Woonona. They are running the one off class at below the cost of bringing the equipment to NSW so they can see the level of interest. If it is as popular as they expect they may do regular events in different locations. Mrs Blake said Silent Yoga was about feeling totally immersed in the moment and coming out of class on a euphoric high. Mrs Ashcroft said Wollongong’s Tehla Bower had done considerable training in the technique and would be the instructor. “It will be a 90 minute soothing start to your Sunday,” she said.
Word is spreading fast and as of Wednesday there were only 30 tickets left.
Glow - Silent Yoga is partnered with Raw Obsession, LokaMo,Hashtag granola and At Health Australia for the event that starts at 8.30am on Sunday at Thirroul Dance Academy.
But participants must arrive by 8.15am to get set up with their headphones.
