After about 40 years of voting Labor, I now vote Liberal.
The only way we'll ever get anything done for us federally or state is to make all our seats swinging seats. Doubt me?
Look at Newcastle and the Central Coast now they are no longer safe Labor seats.

UNSAFE SCHOOLS
In response to the letter by Doug Steley, "Spreading the Love" (Illawarra Mercury, Tuesday, June 21, 2016), the Safe Schools program operated by La Trobe University is a distortion of the original authentic anti-bullying program of the same name.
Activists purporting to represent the gender confused have infused the realistic agenda with their own destructive Marxist theory-based propaganda targeting primary school-aged children.
One website in this Safe Schools program "Minus 18" has links to sex shops and gay bars.
Indeed it is good manners to be respectful and understanding of those people. But to turn the world upside down to dance to the tune of a tiny minority is perverse.
Why is it acceptable to groom children in gender diversity with explicit sexual material under parents noses, while protecting children from sex predators?
Parents are the first educators of their children, not universities, not the education department and not the State.

CAUSE OF CHANGE
Julia Gillard’s policy change was a matter of circumstances initiated by the Greens and independents. It is time for the Julia “lie” allegations to be put to bed.
It was during negotiations with the Greens that Julia Gillard was told a carbon tax must be put on the agenda for discussion with the Independents if Labor to wanted to win office.
Both the Independents agreed to the changes and gave their support to Labor.
If Tony Abbott had not overplayed his hand by offering Andrew Wilkie a billion dollars for the refurbishment of the Royal Hobart Hospital and carried rational negotiations with the two country independents, remember his: “I’d give my…to be Prime Minister” he may have got the nod ahead of Julia.
The question of Julia Gillard breaking a promise is irrelevant – the change of carbon tax policy was an inducement to win government.
It is implausible to imagine Julia Gillard with an election victory in the bag saying “Nah, I cannot do that; I made a promise there would not be a carbon tax. Pick up the telephone and tell Tony he has won, bugger the Labor supporters”. It wasn’t going to happen.

DISGUSTING ACT
I work as a volunteer at the Salvation Army store at Unanderra and they have just spent a lot of money to renovate and make it look nice.
I was shocked to be told by the manager today that half of the plants that had been planted along the front of shop had been dug up and stolen.
They dug up all the same plants and left all the others. They will not be able to replace as cost more money and they had a budget. What low lifes.
