Woonona High School students are benefiting from individual learning programs and specialist teachers thanks to Gonski funding which has seen new needs based programs introduced at the school. Teacher John Chamberlain said the school had received about one third of Gonski funding, which had been used to employ a senior student advisor to support Year 12 HSC students, additional teachers to expand the senior curriculum and expand Years 9 and 10 subjects, along with an individualised Year 8 reading program.

“We are looking forward to full implementation of the Gonski funding model as our experience demonstrates the children will benefit from personalised teaching and learning programs we’ll have the capacity to implement if the remaining two thirds of the Gonski model is committed to,” he said.
