Wollongong has just shivered through its coolest June day since records at one of its weather stations began almost two decades ago.

The maximum temperature at Bellambi Point on Monday struggled to just 11.9 degrees at 2.05pm.
The apparent temperature was just 6.8 degrees about the same time, with “feels like” conditions remaining stuck in single digits for most of the day.
The low maximum pipped the coastal weather station’s previous record coldest day – June 11, 2006, when the mercury hit 12.7 degrees. Records at the site began in 1997.
Rain along the coastal fringe helped keep the temperature down, with 1.4 millimetres recorded at Bellambi Point between 9am and 5.30pm on Monday.
Conditions were slightly warmer inland, with the Albion Park weather station recording a high of 12.8 degrees at 12.42pm.
No record was broken at that suburb, with the 12 degrees the previous record low maximum there (also on June 11, 2006).
Those pining for some warmer times won’t have to wait long.
On current forecasts, temperatures should reach a sunny 17 degrees in Wollongong on Tuesday and could notch similar readings each day until another cold front arrives on Friday.
Overnight temperatures will remain in the single digits each day until at least Friday along the Illawarra coast, and continue across the weekend for inland areas, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
