Jindabyne has produced some solid browns to near 3 kilos by simply blind trolling a hundred or so metres from the shore line.
Latest lake levels from Snowy Hydro show the dams rising slightly following early snow melt. Jindabyne is at 38 per cent, Eucumbene 80 per cent and Tantangara dipped early in the week but rose sharply to 35 per cent capacity.
Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal said last weekend’s mixed weather made it tough going for the keen fisherman.
Freezing cold temps and blustery westerly winds made it a weekend for the diehard fishos only and although the weather has been up and down, the fishing just keeps getting better with a range of species on offer at present.
Those who fished last Sunday found plenty of hungry pan-sized snapper on the bite with a few bigger models out over the deeper reefs that were happy to take a soft plastics or bait.
The 50-metre depth line seemed to be the place for the larger fish with the use of a good sounder/chart plotter and precise analysis of the readings to locate the right contours and rises on the ocean floor.
The returns showed good snapper, pigfish and plenty of big blue morwong, just waiting to attack a well jigged plastic.
The flathead continue to be of good size with all the sand drifts up and down the coast holding relatively good numbers of fish.
The rocks have been on fire of late with lots of good sized drummer and blackfish about the washes as well as some stud-sized winter bream. Beaches have been fishing well, with some big winter whiting about as well as bream and plenty of salmon and tailor about just on dawn and then dusk.
Alas there has been very little to report on the mulloway bite and not through lack of effort as even the gun jewie guys have come back with zeros.
