Presently a barn-style structure, the design from Rushcutters Bay-based architects Silvester Fuller attempts to preserve its heritage value.
The evangelical church, at 429 Crown St, has been identified as having heritage value for its “untraditional forms and detailing”.
A heritage report commissioned by the church concludes that demolishing the steeple would not have an overly negative heritage impact, if the old steeple can be recorded and reconstructed, or if an “interpretive steeple” is installed.
