Speaking at the launch of the 2016 IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Tuesday Mr Rowan revealed how Internetrix had been nominated for the Telstra Small Business Awards. He said the application process proved very onerous but the Illawarra Business Chamber’s awards were great training for large state and national awards.
“We found out six weeks ago that we were shortlisted to top six. That resulted in three Telstra executives coming down from Sydney three weeks ago and putting us through our paces in our own office and doing a site inspection. On Friday we found out that we are now top three and finalists for NSW. Who knows what is going to happen. But the recognition from the local community is spurring us on to things at a national level,” he said.
Internetrix has a global focus and has established strategic alliances with global giants such as Google and IBM. Last year 15 team members were present when it also won the Excellence in Export Award in recognition of its success in China.
Mr Rowan said entering the Illawarra awards was an amazing process. More from the 2016 launch on page 20.
