Corrimal Rangers and Illawarra Football Association life member Peter Dent has been awarded a Football NSW State Award for Service to Football.
Dent received his award at a gala dinner at Parramatta on Saturday night.
"Since arriving in the Illawarra in 1971 after emigrating from England, Peter has devoted 40 years' service to this great game of ours," Football South Coast men's football co-ordinator David Naylor said.
"His beloved Corrimal Rangers Football Club has been the major beneficiary of his hard work and dedicated service.
"Peter has also served the board of the governing body, the Illawarra Football Association, with distinction since the late '70s and continues to serve this organisation with the same drive and enthusiasm that held him in good stead at club level.
"In recent times, Peter has held the events management portfolio and is responsible for the running of events such as grand finals and gala award dinners which are run in an efficient and professional manner thanks to the mighty efforts of one Mr Dent.
"Peter was made a life member of the IFA in 2005 and still works tirelessly to this day with the newly formed unified body of Football South Coast."
