As well as a new coat of blue paint, work on the Central Road facility included the creation of a full bowl and the installation of a pimple and ledge.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery OAM said: ‘’We’re very happy to be able to reopen this much-loved skate park during the school holidays, and I encourage all the skaters out there to come and try it out.
‘’It’s also finished a month ahead of schedule, which is a great credit to the team, particularly given some of the extreme weather we’ve had recently.
‘’We’re hoping the improved Unanderra skate park will be well used and cared for by local skaters of all ages, and will be something the community can enjoy and be proud of.’’
Wollongong City Council commenced work on the revitalisation of Fairy Meadow skate park this week, which is expected to be complete by late spring. Public art seating projects are planned for both skate parks.
