VIDEO: Trent goes Gangnam Style on Sunrise

The Illawarra’s own Gangnam Style star Trent Potter showed off his moves on a national stage this morning when he performed on Sunrise.

With little sleep and a whole lot of enthusiasm, Trent made the trip to Sydney in an attempt to meet Korean pop sensation Psy, the man behind the dancing craze, who performed at an outdoor concert for the morning show.

Although Trent was not able to meet the pop star, who has clocked up more than 430 million You Tube hits for the catchy tune, he was given the chance to perform his own rendition of the horse dance as thousands of Psy fans cheered him on.

Trent, who came to the Illawarra Mercury’s attention after dancing at a recent Wollongong Hawks home game, had convinced his mum to let him take the day off school for the occasion.

He packed his own dinner jacket, glasses and bow tie, to emulate the unique style of Psy.

"I hope I get to meet him, that would be the best," Trent said yesterday before catching a train to Sydney.

The Korean superstar, whose real name is Jae-Sang Park, also performed on the breakfast program.

It's not known how much Psy is getting paid to appear Down Under, but during a recent visit to Las Vegas he reportedly requested about $60,000 a gig to sing and do his trademark dance.
