Mr Denyer left behind a young baby daughter when he succumbed to his injuries on the M1 at Cataract, Wednesday morning.

A Veolia Energy technician, he was driving south when wild winds brought a large gum tree down on top of his company ute.

He veered into a concrete barrier, became trapped and could not be revived.

In the wake of a tragedy a friend, Danielle Beichert, paid tribute to the new dad. 

“Rest easy knowing your daughter will grow up knowing exactly the man you were,” she said, in a post to social media.

Veolia NSW’s Ben Sullivan offered condolences to Mr Denyer’s family and friends and said his colleagues had been offered counselling.

“The thoughts of the Veolia community are with Sam’s loved ones and we offer our complete support at this difficult time,” Mr Sullian said.

“All Veolia employees and colleagues of Sam’s have been offered confidential counselling and grief support services.”
