Dapto Chiefs did enough to beat Berkeley Eagles, 5-2, in the third versus fourth clash at Hector Harvey Park on Saturday while Northern Pirates won a scrappy clash with Shoalhaven 6-1 at Dalton Park.

Starter for the Chiefs Mitchell Thompson threw five innings for four hits, a strike out and only one earned run. Reliever Tim Inglis gave up a run in three innings pitched while closer Matt McCann shut down the Eagles offense in the ninth.
The Chiefs scored their first run in the first and after Eagles tied things up at the top of the third inning but took control with a four-run burst at the bottom of the third for a 5-1 lead.
Chiefs' hitters Tim Inglis (3-4 1 RBI) and Ben Garvey (2-5) were standouts in a low scoring match while Eagles Mick Shipp had a good day with the bat going three for three from his team's six hits in total.
At Dalton Park Pirates' starter Ben Gibson had a solid game over six innings for three hits, three strike outs one walk with only one run scored. His relievers' Dylan Rower and Brenden Lower did the job to not give up a run in their three innings of work.
For Mariners Brenton McMahon pitched seven innings for five hits a game high six strike outs but gave up six runs on the back of two team errors.
Best hitters for the game were Pirates' Brenden Lower who went two for three including a two-base hit and coach Andrew Clifford (1-2) who stated after the game his side failed to find any rhythm with the bat and struggle to get anything going offensively.
They will certainly need to pick things up if they are to threaten Cardinals' current unbeaten run.
