ILLAWARRA Steelers talent Zac Lomax cemented his reputation as a future NRL player after being chosen in the Australian Schoolboys team.

Lomax played in the NSW Combined High Schools team which lost the finals in a thriller against NSW Combined Catholic Schools, led by Tristan Sailor, the son of former dual international Wendell Sailor.
The Figtree High School star was named in the centres for the Australian team which will play an international against the England Academy on July 31 and August 6.
NRL game development manager Andrew Hill said the said the Australian Schoolboys team is a proven breeding ground for the game. Penrith’s Nathan Cleary and Melbourne’s Curtis Scott are the most recent examples of the Schoolboys selection success.
“Just 12 months ago Nathan Cleary and Curtis Scott were selected in the Australian Schoolboys side and have now played first grade,” Hill said.
“We look forward to the next batch of outstanding talent continuing to emerge through our pathways.”
Lomax’s immense potential was on show as he scored four tries in a breathtaking display against Queensland in the competition opener last week.
Sailor and Lomax also played in the Steelers SG Ball team which reached the grand final this year, losing the Penrith. Gerringong’s Reuben Garrick, who played in the Australian Schoolboys team last year, is another viewed as a future NRL player, under contract in the Dragons system.
