Judy Whitaker and Judy Reed made their home green advantage count in taking out the Figtree RSL Bowling Club Major-Minor Pairs carnival last Monday.
The tournament featured 50 teams from 13 Illawarra clubs who played two games of 15 ends in beautiful spring conditions. Skip Whitaker and her partner finished with 2 wins and a +34 shot margin to claim the $500 as tournament champions.
Shellharbour's Deborah Waldron (skip) and Julie Lacey finished second on countback from Lorrine Monk and Kay Taylor (Windang) after both teams finished on 2 wins +27.
Windang's Nancy Coltman and Anne Murray were the Game 1 winners, with Kiama's Gloria Hodgson and Greta O'Donnell the Game 2 winners.
Meanwhile, in a big couple of weeks for women's bowls, Wiseman Park BC tomorrow hosts the annual Anderson Irvine Shield representative clash between Illawarra and South Coast. Both associations form eight teams, with Illawarra the defending champions.
