Valeri was coached by the three-time Serie A winner down the ranks of Italian soccer, making their International Champions Cup meeting a reunion.

Italy skipper Gianluigi Buffon and France midfielder Paul Pogba are among 13 players given an extended break by Juventus.

"It's still an amazing team and they're going to be a tough test for us," Valeri said at AAMI Park on Tuesday.

"They're going to be playing to be staying at Juventus, so they've got a lot to play for."

The 2015 ICC champions Victory were expected to be "a little bit underdone", Valeri said, as it is still early in the pre-season.

"We've got a hectic schedule so early on in the pre-season," he said. "It wasn't expected, but that's what we're dealt ... and we're going to face it. It's just a little hurdle to overcome."

After spending 11 years in Italy as a midfielder for Inter Milan and other sides, Valeri is thrilled to go up against the Italian giants.

"Not many kids can say you've played against Juventus. I feel like a kid at this point in time. I'm a 30-year-old kid, pretty much," he said.

"It's going to be a fantastic night and I believe it's going to be an entertaining night because both teams do have a lot to play for.

"Game time is going obviously to be limited for players starting for the first time in the pre-season. We're going to just have to come to terms with it and deal with it.

"There's that excitement there, as if it's the first game of the season already."
