Two cars fitted with dashcams came at the Princes Highway accident site from opposite directions on Wednesday morning, in wet and overcast conditions.
Kylie Minogue’s Spinning Around can be heard playing in the car with the southbound perspective, moments before a Ford Territory coming from the opposite direction does just that.
The Territory collides with the tail end of a ute turning right into Airport Road, then spins across the wet roadway, scattering broken parts in its path.
The driver of the car with the northbound perspective sees the ute flung off course and brakes to avoid hitting the unstuck Territory head-on.
The duel camera perspectives are a rarity on the popular Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page, having only been captured once before, according to a page administrator.
They have fascinated members of the page community, who have passed more than 600 comments on the prang.
Among them is a man claiming the Territory driver was “my missus” and assuring onlookers that an 18-month-old boy who was also travelling in the car was uninjured.
On the page, debate rages on who was at fault, with speed, headlights, car colour and the road all coming in for scrutiny.
“I use this turn a few times a day for work,” wrote one contributing commentator, Karen Soulis.
“I've known people who have had accidents there years before traffic lights were installed.
You can easily sit here for 5 mins maybe more when the traffic isn't heavy …
“This is one of my least favourite intersections in the Illawarra.”
A growing number of dashcams are capturing events on Australian roads.
The cameras have been credited with taking the guesswork out of police investigations and insurance decisions.
