Yes, you saw that right. Sammy Ndjock was attempting to throw the ball to, well, somewhere when he accidentally dropped it into his own goal. Ndjock immediately realised his error and attempted to save it, but he failed. Miserably.

"I'm absolutely gobsmacked by that," United Coach Carl Craig said (via the Pioneer Press) after the game. "Never seen that in me life — ever."

Whatever happened, though, was likely a freak error. Although disappointed, Craig said he "cannot nail" the 26-year-old Cameroonian for the blunder.

"It's frustrating, I don't want to throw the baby out of the bathwater because we don't play in the Premier League, but at the same time it's the unforced errors that I talked about at the start of the year, it's the unforced errors that I spoke about at the end of the spring and once again it's unforced errors which have put us in the position that we're in tonight," he added.

Ndjock graduated from Lille's youth setup, before plying his trade in Turkey with Antalyaspor and Fethiyespor, and has three international caps. He was also part of Cameroon's national squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, before his move to Minnesota United in 2015.

He shut out the Indy Eleven last weekend, helping the Loons to win 2-0 and giving the Indianapolis team its first loss of the season, the Star Tribune points out.
