A Farah-less Tigers defeated Marshall’s Dragons 25-12 at ANZ Stadium on Sunday and coach Jason Taylor said post-match that he’d have preferred Farah’s comments “weren’t made publicly” and that the matter would be dealt with in-house

Marshall attended the Intrust Super Premiership clash against Newtown in support of Farah alongside another of their former teammates Tim Moltzen and current Tigers skipper Aaron Woods.

Marshall didn’t want to fan the flames of the Farah-Taylor feud but said his support lies firmly with Farah.

“I don’t want to get involved, all I do is support my mate,” Marshall said.

“I think he’s a great player and a great mate of mine and if it was the other way around he’d have supported me the same.

“It’s got nothing to do with me what’s going on at their club.

“They’ve got their own dramas and I’ll let them worry about that but as a mate I’ll be there for him. 

“All my career has been about playing with my mates and looking after my mates and it’s hard seeing a mate go through a tough time. 

“That’s probably the hardest part. At the end of the day all you can do is re-enforce how much you’ve got their back and [that] you’re their mate.

“Robbie’s a big boy, he can take care of his own dramas and I’ll take care of mine.”

Marshall, who played his 250^th first grade game on Sunday, and the Dragons have their own share of dramas to worry about following the loss to the Tigers.

It was the Dragons third straight defeat and saw them tumble to 11^th on the ladder ahead of their clash with Canterbury on Friday. 

They’ve conceded 93 points to 30 in their past three outings all against sides who went into each game below them on the ladder. It’s seen CEO Peter Doust, coach Paul McGregor, skipper Gareth Widdop and Marshall attract criticism.

No stranger to scrutiny throughout his career, Marshall said he’s not fazed by personal criticism but admitted as a team the Dragons need to recapture lost confidence to make any tilt at a finals berth.

“We’ve definitely made it tough on ourselves and we’ve probably got a lot of people on our backs because of it,” Marshall said.

“We’ve just got to stick together as a team and find what’s going to turn it around. We just need that one moment to click our confidence into gear.

“I’ll be honest, we’re lacking confidence in a lot of areas of the game.

“Whether that’s due to outside noise or outside pressure or we’re scared to make a mistake or the pressure of where we are on the table...it all adds up.

“We just need something to go our way and something to turn our season around and that’s just probably going to be hard work.”
