On the back of an impressive display at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup which saw them reach the quarter finals, the Australian national team plan to raise the bar when Rio 2016 kicks-off next month.
"We are definitely [here] for gold, that is the only thing we are going for,” Heyman said.
"I don't think any athlete would ever come to the Olympics and just hope to be an Olympian.
"We all have high expectations of ourselves and we have the belief in our team.
"I definitely know that we all came here to win gold and that's what we want to do."
The Matildas left for Brazil earlier this month and began to prepare for the Olympics in Fortaleza.
They lost a warm-up match 3-1 to Brazil on Sunday after leading 1-0 at half time, but Heyman is certain the national team remains on-track for a strong display in South America.
"We are definitely prepared,” the Illawarra Stingrays star said.
"I think the camp in Fortaleza was the best thing possible for us.
"The weather up there is definitely a lot hotter than it is in Sao Paulo [we were are now]. I think that was the smart move from [coach Alen Stajic] to bring us out here to acclimatize."
The Matildas begin their Olympic campaign against Canada on August 3 before playing two more pools games against Germany and Zimbabwe.
