There had been numerous reports of yellowfin, bluefin and albacore out wide but many of the smaller boats erred on the side of safety.
Local boat X-Factor weighed in a nice 48kg yellowfin for Ray Scerri but apparently most of the fish have been a long way out past 1500 fathoms. Steve Banks on Frantic lost a big tuna when leader roke on 37kg tackle and the fish took his favourite killer vibe lure in the process.
