After years working in Sydney as a singer and model Andrea Vox has returned to Wollongong as a singer, nutritionist and singing teacher who is licensed to thrill with a new OO7 themed show.
The former Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts student and Nowra is re-establishing herself after relocating to the Illawarra and is securing plenty of work as a singing teacher.
But what she loves to do most is perform. She does so in a trio, a duo and as a solo performer and has a diverse repertoire that can suit any function or occasion.
“I am so flexible and the people I work with are so flexible sometimes it is hard to actually explain to people what I do. I pretty much do everything.”, she said.
And that means she can tailor her performance for the occasion. The 007 Bond show she has been developing is one. Before she left Wollongong to work in Sydney Andrea Vox did many weddings and functions and is looking forward to doing so again. She recalled one performance singing at the Illawarra Business Awards at the WIN Entertainment Centre in 2004 produced by Michael Cassel. She got to know him when he was producing Carols by Candlelight nights in Kiama and Wollongong. She loves everything from big events to performing smooth jazz and soul music at for diners enjoying a relaxed meal at a restaurant. They say variety is the spice of life and Andrea Vox also enjoys belting out some loud rock with a band in pubs and clubs. But with her Melodique business she enjoys going to the other extreme with regular choir sing-a-longs. As a singing teacher she teaches many styles and her clients range in age from small children to teenagers and adults.

“I started singing when I was 12 and did all the talent quests and eisteddfods. I began singing because it gave me a voice. I was always very shy in school. It was a means for me to express myself,” she said.
Andrea is passionate about many things including health. After suffering an eating disorder for many years she has studied at the Australasian College of Natural Therapies to become a nutritionist and runs that business under the name VOX Body + Mind. “I had bulimia for seven years. So having gone through that experience and recovered..I wanted to learn more for myself. But I also became passionate about being able to help others. I am trying to do something that is a little unique with the nutrition. And I have just started doing a Bachelor of Psychology”.
