Award-winning playwright Alana Valentine intertwined the words from letters written to Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton over the years to help dramatise the long, suffering fight for innocence after the disappearance of baby Azaria at Uluru in 1980.
Before the show, the 68-year-old said she had read the final drafts of the work but was still feeling nervous and excited to see the finished product.
Actor Jeanette Cronin was convincing in her role as the New Zealand-born woman who was wrongly convicted of her child’s death, often bringing a tear to the eyes of the audience.
Post show Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton met with theatre-goers who eagerly wanted a moment with her including to take a photo.
Letters to Lindy continues at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre until August 6.
It will then head to Canberra, the Shoalhaven and Sydney.
