Bell leads the title race on 106 points and has another strong book of rides at Kembla Grange.
Lever is nine points back, one point behind second-place Jeff Penza, and is returning from a recent holiday to the US over the past month.
“It would be nice to pull off a comeback, but I think Mitch has a couple of nice rides as well,” Lever said.
“I went away on holidays recently and missed a couple of meeting which probably might have cost me.
“But I have had a good season so I am happy with that.”
Lever’s association with Australia’s premier trainer Chris Waller will bolster his cause.
The classy provincial hoop has four rides for the leading horseman which all look to have good chances.
His first comes in the opener Estikhraaj before he links up with Mister McIlroy (race two), Prescience (race three) and dual acceptor Tuscadero (race seven).
“I have got a couple of nice rides there with Prescience and Estikhraaj is probably getting out to his right trip now,”
“Both of Prescience’s two runs back have been pretty good so you would think he will be pretty hard to beat there.

“He will appreciate it a bit further as well but he looks to be in the right race on Saturday.”
Lever also rides Druk for Bjorn Baker in the Lake Toolooma Maiden Handicap (1200m).
“He led last start and just got run down so I would say he will take up a similar role,” Lever said.
“Hopefully he will be too good for them.”
Lever finishes the day with a ride for Kembla’s leading trainer Gwenda Markwell where he links up with Caton in the Royal National Park Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m).
