In under two weeks, the Wollongong Wolves will play host to a blockbuster match against A-League powerhouse Sydney FC at WIN Stadium.
The FFA Cup match will be held on Wednesday, August 10, with kick-off from 7.30 pm. It will be telecast nationally by Fox Sports.
Hopefully the weather gods are good and the Illawarra’s footy fans come out in force. This is an important game for the region both on and off the field.
A good showing will send a strong message to football’s governing body in this country about just what the sport means to the region.
A message that it deserves more and maybe even a spot in the national competition.
While the region is strongly represented in the women’s national team in particular, the sport at a junior and grass roots level is thriving.
We want that all to be on show in the lead-up to the match. That’s why we have teamed with the Wollongong Wolves for a special giveaway in conjunction with the match.
Click here to enter a competition to find the Illawarra’s “biggest little football fan”.
We want to find a youngster who just lives, eats and breathes for the round ball game.
Online there will an entry form where mums and dads can upload a pic of the little footy fans in their household, hopefully decked out in their gear or in action.
The winning entry will get a special family experience for four at the FFA Cup game where you’ll enjoy the hospitality of the Wollongong Wolves.
This weekend promises to be a beautiful one in the Illawarra and sporting grounds across the region will be packed with kids taking to the pitch.
A perfect opportunity to get a picture and submit it for your chance to win an exclusive prize.
Make it quick though. The competition is only open for a week. We will announce the winner in the lead-up to the big game.
Whether you win the competition or not, take the opportunity on August 10 to get out and support the Wolves as they take on the might of Sydney FC.
Our region has always loved an underdog and hopefully the Wolves can cause the upset.
