Tributes have already started to flow for the former winner of Bert Newton's popular television talent show New Faces and many MO Awards for entertainment.
Rikki was diagnosed with multiple myeloma blood cancer in 2009 and has fought hard ever since.
My beautiful boy passed peacefully at home.surrounded with so much love with myself and our kids yesterday afternoon
- Jane Organ
Early in his career Rikki played the much loved Happy Harry character for the Illawarra Mercury doing giveaways over the summer holidays.
People swarmed to every location for the chance to meet him and grab some of the many goodies on offer.
A couple of years ago fellow Happy Harry Scott Radburn came to his aid when he found out his mate was not expected to live after he succumbed to double pneumonia and his family were called to his bedside.
Preparing for the worst Radburn posted a message on Facebook and the overwhelming response helped Rikki pull through when doctors didn't think he would.
The response was overwhelming and Jane Organ alerted Rikki while he was still in a critical condition.
The former member of the Four Kinsmen decided to help his friend and organised a charity fundraiser at Centro CBD in October 2014 to help Rikki with his mounting medical expenses for new drugs and treatment at a time when he was finding it hard to work and pay the bills.
Rikki said he initially felt embarrassed but agreed to the night on the condition he also got to perform.
At the time he said "those people who wished me well certainly helped me through and inspired me".
Rikki said the Happy Harry in him just wants to keep giving as he has done throughout his entire career when he has met people in need.
It was one of the reasons he supports the annual Leukaemia Foundation golf day every October to help another mate, the late Greg Thurling, support others with leukaemia and their families.
Rikki, who originally trained as an electrician, did the Happy Harry role at the Illawarra Mercury towards the mid 1980s after Scott played the role, while also selling advertising for the newspaper from around 1981.
Scott said Rikki did countless things for other people that he never sought attention for. But he said everyone who knew him knew what a giving person he is.
In the last 12 months he has not stopped and helped out MCing the Highlights on Mental Health final in Crown Street Mall and a fitness boot camp at Woonona Bulli Fitness Centre to support the work of Zambi Wildlife Retreat. Last July he and Scott were co-emcees for the Graham Wilson fundraiser at the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant that raised funds for their friends brain cancer treatment.
After being diagnosed with multiple myeloma blood cancer in 2009 Rikki started chemotherapy in March 2010 followed by a stem cell transplant in August 2010.
But despite all he was going through the thing he loved doing and that lifted his spirits was getting on stage.
Around the time of the fundraiser in 2014 he said he had total numbness in both feet, no taste or smell and no feeling in his fingers but he still wanted to get up and perform. And within minutes he had everyone smiling a laughing.
Scott said that is what he did.
He made everyone feel good and really made a difference in so many lives.
Up until very recently Rikki was still working at the Builders Club during the week and doing many MCing duties and performances when he could as well as shows in various rest homes for the elderly.
In September 2014 he said he did not realise how much love and support he had around him.
He, his wife Jane and children Taylour'e Louise and Tyne-James were among those to express their gratitude for everything he did at the fundraiser.
At the time Rikki said it was great to have so many people want to do something for him while he was still around to see it.
And no matter how sick he was he did not want to let anyone down by missing the event. He said performing and bringing joy and smiles to other people is what he loves the most.
Jane said this morning that her beautiful boy passed peacefully at home yesterday afternoon surrounded with so much love from his family.
She said their hearts were broken and wanted to express how grateful they were for the amazing support from Rikki’s oncologist Dr Peter Presgrave and the palliative care team Dr Greg Barclay and Dr Karmer Hyare.
Funeral details will be published here soon.
The Rikki Organ fundraiser
The fundraiser for Rikki Organ in October 2014 was later described as going down as one of the most memorable moments in Wollongong's entertainment industry.
It was a night when some of the biggest names in the local music scene gathered with many friends at Centro CBD to help a great mate.
Among the many highlights of the night were a video message from Jimmy Barnes.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Rikki got up to sing himself and when his wife, Jane, was joined by their children, Taylour'e Louise and Tyne-James, as she recounted his battle with cancer in recent years.
Following the fundraiser Rikki wanted to have regular catch ups with many involved in organising the event at the Harbourfront Restaurant with entertainers such as Scott Radburn, Trent Bowater, Mick on Wheels, Graham Wilson and Robert Specogna.
Rikki was then bouyed by the news of the success of his children in their respective fields over the last 18 months.
While he remained in hospital after his second stem cell transplant, he discovered his son had secured a gig as the support act for an international artist.
He told the Mercury that his son Tyne-James Organ (TJ) had scored the support act for English performer Lewis Watson.
Rikki said the two musicians met when Tyne-James was in London in 2013 for a record launch by Watson.

My favourite memory of Rikki is of many years ago after another great show at Stepping Out Theatre Restaurant in Penrith where Rikki was always the star. When we left the venue there was Rikki out in the car park still in character as Jimmy Barnes singing Khe Sanh at the top of his lungs and everyone leaving joined in. It was a magical moment. I am pleased that a few months ago I got the chance to remind him of that night and he laughed and said "thanks for that happy memory love, they were good days". They were indeed. Rest in peace Rikki. Pamela Hawkins Werrington
A great loss to those who loved him and to the entertainment profession.
