A charity appeal committee formed one evening over a few beers at Figtree Bowling Club is calling on the community to help out a Unanderra father of four.
Damien Purss, 36, was dealt a huge blow in January when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer.
Ongoing treatment and time away from his landscaping business has taken an emotional and financial toll on Damien, his wife Amy and their young girls, who have been relying on the generosity of family and friends.
A benefit dinner hosted by Wave FM’s Greg Vincent will be held tomorrow night at the Illawarra Master Builders Club to help raise money for the family.
The Damien Purss Charity Appeal Committee is after prizes to either raffle or auction. No offer is too big or small.
Tickets are $60 a head for tables of 10, and includes entertainment, a three-course meal and an auction.
