The deck chairs are back out for a free, daily broadcast of Olympic events in upper Crown Street Mall so no one has to miss a minute of the action. And Wednesday morning will be extra special when Emma McKeon’s lifelong friend Dominique Tobin visits the site with her uncle Mike McKeon and staff from Peoplecare and Destination Wollongong who are fully into the Olympics in their workplaces.
The Illawarra Mercury is live streaming the action from the mall to its Facebook page with the help of Marina Bian and Polly Metzikis, of IICONIC Creative. “When Emma won gold on Sunday people were here cheering and clapping. It was really good,” Ms Bian said.
The broadcast will continue late on Thursday evening.
And is expected to be busy during the markets on Friday.
There are also heaters and blankets to keep people warm along with a variety of activities.
“On Saturday we are going to have a giant blow up surfing wave with a mechanical surfboard and bouncy boxing (with giant inflatable gloves),” Ms Bian said.
GPT Wollongong’s Holly Howell said the site would be active throughout the Olympics.
