Wollongong City Council has planned the midnight to 6am work schedule to take advantage of “super low tides”, which are needed to complete the pool project.
The works will involve drilling into the rockwall, installing reinforcement and shotcreting. Bright construction lighting, known as ‘Daymakers’, will also be installed along the rock platform.
Work on the project began on 1 August and are expected to take about two months.
Night works will run from August 17 to 23 , subject to sea, swell and tide conditions.
If conditions during this period are unfavourable, the next super low tide period is from September 15 to 21 September.
These low tides also occur at night.
The community is reminded that during the project, the Gents Pool will be closed for swimming but that the Continental Pool is open for use.
