Earlier this year, 11,000 Scouts and their leaders descended on Cataract Scout Park near Appin for the 24th Australian Jamboree.
Next month, in what’s been dubbed an Australian first, it’ll be parents who’ll be waving goodbye to their kids and packing their camping gear for an adult-only camp.
The Creative Escape Camp Jamboree, to be held at the Mount Keira Scout Camp from September 2-4, will bring together people wanting to escape the stresses of daily life.
“Grown-ups need to play too; it’s really important for our souls and for our mental health,” organiser Caitlin Marshall, from Wild Rumpus, said.
“The idea is to really get people to escape out of being plugged-in.”
Lessons in photography, permaculture and bush tucker are among the creative workshops on offer.
Up to 100 people from across Australia are expected to bunk, camp or “glamp” at the popular Scout camp. Limited spaces are available.
