Rest easy, the Melbourne four-piece are heading to Wollongong for the first time on September 24 at Waves and they’re pumped.
Synth and saxophone player Sam Mullaly admits Splendour was the biggest crowd they’ve ever played to and said it was probably one of the best things he’s ever done in his life.
“You feel dwarfed by it all as well … it was quite surreal,” he said.
“To kinda hear people chanting along to your songs, particularly in the softer bits … it’s very humbling.”
The boys only released their debut album, In A Restless House, last year but it’s been eight years in the making.
“It’s the longest friendship I ever had,” laughed Mullaly. “We’re a pretty tight crew.”
The bunch of school mates, plus “drummer found on Gumtree”, have been melding their lover of Talking Heads and The Cure into modern day radio hits like “Your Fix”, “Rabbit Run”, “Son” and “Wandering”.
Mullaly said the reason it took so long to release an album wasn’t because they weren’t committed but rather they were trying to collate the perfect selection of their songs.
