The men from Wollongong, aged in their 40s, were driving through the South East Forests National Park on Thursday at Bemboka when their 4WD stalled as they attempted to drive across a creek.

CEO of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service Steven Leahy said both men were found about 10.30am on Saturday and were "quite okay".

"They have run out of food, there are cold, but they are okay."

Mr Leahy said, after the men stalled their vehicle on Thursday, they flattened their car battery attempting to free themselves.

"When they failed to return home family members reported them missing to police. A search was started using the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter from Moruya and after a short search the helicopter located the 4WD and the men nearby."

A Westpac rescue officer was winched into the bushland area to check the men for injuries, while they waited for local police to attend the scene.

"They didn't want to be winched out. As long as police were on their way they were happy to wait," Mr Leahy said.

"It won't be a difficult rescue. It is very remote in that area but they are on a track accessible by 4WD. We have given local police GPS coordinates."

A NSW Police spokesperson said police were assisting the pair to restart their car shortly after 11.30am on Saturday.

The South East Forests National Park covers an area of 115,534 ha and spans over 100km of coastal escarpment, tableland edge and hinterland country. 

The park encompasses the former Genoa, Tantawangalo, Coolangubra, Bemboka and Yowaka National Parks.
