Illawarra will continue their pre-season when they play their arch rivals on Wednesday night in Sutherland before hosting the Kings at the Snakepit on Saturday night.
They are hopeful of giving every player in the squad an early season hit out in the games. Late on Tuesday afternoon, the Hawks were still awaiting clearance from immigration for former NBL MVP Clarke and reigning Mountain West Conference player of the year Harris.
They were confident of receiving the thumbs-up for both players before Wednesday’s match where Hawks coach Rob Beveridge hopes to start gelling his squad before the new NBL campaign.
“Nearly every single session has been almost a new session so it will be good to get all the players on the floor at once,” Beveridge said.
“That is the plan, if I have all the players available they will definitely play as such.
“Having Mitch Norton and Nick Kay as well – they were outstanding up in Darwin against Adelaide – but it will be nice to have them and the three imports and see how we play.”
Tenacious Hawks guard Kevin White is the only player currently not training with the squad full time as he continues his playoff run with Bendigo in the SEABL competition.
The Braves will face Nunawading in a conference final this Saturday.
