Gellately has been in strong form for the Tigers coming off the interchange bench as part of a rotation that also includes hard-heads Khan Salamilakis and Steve McCallum.

The trio were instrumental in overturning a hafltime deficit against Collegians in last week’s minor semi-final and will likely need to go up a level against arguably the best middle rotation in the competition.

“We all know the point having a forward pack is to keep driving forward and not going away,” Gellately said.

“Last week we said we had to go above 80 per cent [completions] and I think in the first half we went six of 12 or something like that. There were times we probably pushed the ball when we didn’t need to. 

“In the second half our only two errors were two knock-ons over the try-line. We’re aiming at above 80 per cent again this weekend and we’ll see how we go. All we need to do is do our job hold the ball get to our kicks and we know the rest will come. We know we’ve got the players with the skills to go off the back of it.”

After playing in the last three grand finals, Injuries and wholesale personnel changes saw many write the Tigers off this season but, having hit their straps at the right time of the year, Gellately said the playing group is full of confidence heading into the showdown with the minor premiers.

“Everyone knows we can get through [to the grand final] it just comes down to how we perform on the day,” Gellatley said.  

“There were a few question marks over us at the start of they year but we’ve come definitely come good and I don’t think anyone’s doubting us now. I think after losing so many players last year we had to we had to build up our confidence again with the players that came in.

“Now I think everyone’s hit their stride. We all know that we’re capable of doing our own job and that’s what’s most important when it comes to footy.

“The last three times we’ve played [Dapto] we’ve been leading. In the Challenge Cup [final] we were up 16-0 at quarter time, at home we scored two tries before they scored and at Dapto we were up at halftime. They’re a obviously a real quality side but so are we so it’s anyone’s game.”
