Now just like the timeless classic an annual Masquerade Ball named after his dwelling place is held at City Beach Function Centre to help IRT Foundation create age-friendly opportunities for people where they live.
Last year more than 170 members of the Wollongong community came out to help kick-start the initiative by raising $21,598 for the cause.
It showed the city’s generous community spirit can never be described as the stuff of fairy tales.
And it is another step towards the dream of no-one ever having cause to say ‘’no I can’t do something because of my age”.
The only question left to answer this week is will IRT chief executive Nieves Murray be sighted in the never no land of Neverland dressed as Tinker Bell.
Last year she described everyone’s effort as tremendous and said the money raised was going directly to community grants, education and advocacy as well as research programs.
