It’s important to collaborate and share messages about child protection within the community.

The fifth annual Child Protection Week Professional Development Day promoting the theme “Children, Families & Domestic Violence – Understanding and Responding in our workplace” was held recently with experts on domestic and family violence.

Developed for National Child Protection Week from September 4-10, the event is a collaboration of Illawarra and Shoalhaven based non-government and government agencies of The South Coast Child Wellbeing Network (SCCWN).

Founding member and organiser Samantha Lukey from Family Services Illawarra said, “SCCWN recognises that agencies working together can make a difference to keep children safe.”

The SCCWN will run a FREE Family Fun Day at Warrawong Plaza on Thursday September 15 from 10am-midday, aimed at families with children aged 0-5 years, with reading, craft and play activities.

It will allow families to meet local non-profit groups and government agencies to discuss their parenting goals and potential supports in a fun environment.
