The 27-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, fronted Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday morning on five counts of drug possession and one count of exposing a child under seven (causing danger of death).
She pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, which police found at her Koonawarra home while carrying out a search warrant.
However, the woman has denied possession of a host of other drugs allegedly found during the same search, including the ice at the centre of the alleged overdose.
Police will allege the boy had been left to sleep in his mother’s bedroom on January 25 when at some stage during the night or morning he discovered the ice and ate it.
The woman called an ambulance in a panic after finding her son having seizures.
Tests at Wollongong Hospital allegedly revealed the boy had methamphetamine in his system - enough to likely cause “serious injury or death”, medical experts said.
Miraculously, the boy survived and is now in the care of the Department of Families and Community Services.
Hospital staff alerted police to the matter.
The woman was charged in late August after an eight month investigation.
She failed to turn up to her first scheduled court appearance two weeks ago, prompting the magistrate to issue a warning that she faced being arrested if she didn't front court on Wednesday.
The woman declined to comment when approached by waiting media outside the courthouse.
The case was adjourned to November 9.
