The Woonona songbird wowed the judges to win the Sydney Eisteddfod senior singer of the year title on Tuesday night.
Her win at the Petersham RSL Club came a year after she won the Sydney Eisteddfod junior singer of the year title at the same venue.
The 15-year-old’s latest success on September 13 saw her pocket $5000.
Adele Stewart said her daughter Molly also created Sydney Eisteddfod history in the process.
‘’Molly is the youngest to have ever won it [senior title] and also the only one to have won the junior and senior [categories],’’ Mrs Stewart said.
Molly is no newbie to the Sydney Eisteddfod stage, competing this year for the sixth consecutive time.
Judges and adjudicators were impressed with her latest performance, with Francine Bell saying Molly was a ‘’star’’.
‘’Molly has great command of the stage and I can see an improvement from last year (if that’s possible!),’’ Ms Bell said.
Judge Deborah Wells agreed and added: ‘’Molly has a mighty voice and presented a very impressive overall performance.’’
Molly sang I’m the Greatest Star (Bob Merrill and Jule Styne) from the musical Funny Girl, Burn (Lin-Manuel Miranda) from Hamilton the Musical and They Just Keep Moving the Line (Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman) from TV series Smash.
The TIGS student ‘’fell in love’’ with performing at age nine when she saw the musical Wicked.
Her parents realised Molly had talent when they heard her singing along to the lyrics in the musical.
‘’She’d sing along and you’d think oh gosh, she’s exactly like the singer singing. She’s just got better and better,’’ Mrs Stewart said.
Molly, who hopes to study music theatre at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts when she finishes school, is no stranger to Illawarra theatre fans.
In recent years she has played Rumpleteazer in CATS, Martha in The Secret Garden, Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast and Glinda (the good witch) in Wizard of Oz.
Bulli teenager Ben Johnston took part in the junior singer of the year, won by Forestville’s Omar Rihani.
