And that is just what The Grange Golf Club, amalgamated events partner Dapto Leagues Club and the world’s third largest golf management company Troon want.
Following the signing of an exclusive deal with Troon earlier this year a complete makeover of the clubhouse planned two years ago swung into action at the popular golf club. The $5 million in work is part of a strategic $7 million refurbishment of the Grange clubhouse, function facilities and golf course.
Troon has been working to the objectives set out by The Grange and Dapto Leagues board to help ensure continued prosperity, membership loyalty and growth for the club. The plan is to also drive golf tourism to the South Coast.
The aim is to boost Illawarra’s visitor economy through Troon’s global club network of 200 clubs presently under management worldwide.
The work being carried out at The Grange is to give local golfers as well as the international market a high standard golf course and facilities.
The Grange, Dapto Leagues and Troon see it as the start of a new era for the 50 year old club.
Dapto Leagues chief executive David Hiscox said the clubhouse makeover also included the pro shop, amenities, bar and café, bridal facilities and a new 230 guest function room.
Mr Hiscox said the ambitious investment in renovation, expansion and improved course design will elevate the club beyond public expectations and be able to cater for everyone’s needs be they golf, weddings, business events and conferences.
Also present at the unveiling was The Grange Golf Club’s new golf operations manager Scott McCaw who is part of Troon Golf Management.
Mr McCaw relocated to Wollongong after previously being the general manager of Troon’s Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates. He has more than 16 years’ experience in managing upscale golf operations internationally including eight years with Troon managing clubs in the Azores, Morocco and Abu Dhabi. His wife is from Australia and they have twin girls. He sees The Grange as a progressive club and is keen to drive growth by increasing awareness both locally and internationally. “With improved function facilities, The Grange is transforming from a great golf venue to more a regional golf and country club for the whole community through the joint hospitality management of Dapto Leagues team.”
Destination Wollongong is among the first organisations to use of the new venue where it will host its next partner function for members on Tuesday.
