Folk By The Sea organisers expect word of mouth will make Japanese singer-songwriter Kenta Hayashi one of this year’s festival stars – so they’ve scheduled three concerts for the performer dubbed the “Loop Pedal Ninja”.
Hayashi takes the term “one-man band” to the next level, creating an orchestra of sound by layering vocals, guitar, effects, percussion and electronic beats with a loop pedal.
Illawarra Folk Club president Russell Hannah predicts Hayashi will be one of the stars of the festival.
Hayashi will perform at 5pm on Friday and 11.30am and 4.15pm on Saturday, to give festival patrons plenty of opportunity to enjoy his unique talents.
