That side, which included current Cutters stars Tyrone McCarthy and Shaun Nona, took out the Intrust Super Cup premiership and backed up a week later to claim the inaugural Interstate Challenge, something the trio are hoping to repeat with Illawarra.
“It’s a complete different culture and different set upset up from the Queensland Cup to the NSW Cup,” Demetriou said.
“The amount of players you’re chopping and changing, the direct relationship with your NRL side is a lot different to the Queensland Cup but that experience definitely helps. I’ve been in that environment before and hopefully we can get out there on Sunday and do the best we can and if that gets us a result; great. If it doesn’t we’ll hold our heads high.”
