The top provincial jockey has been in stellar form and added a winning treble at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
Penza started the day on the right note by taking out the opening event on Grincheux for John O’Shea before winning on Nazzak (race six) and Lad About Town (race seven).
The treble matched the haul Penza got while riding at Newcastle last Saturday and was one more than Penza got a fortnight ago at Kembla.
He started the day with the easiest of wins on Grincheux.
The Godolphin three-year-old started as an overwhelming $1.30 favourite and won accordingly.
After his main rival, Brothers In Arms, was a late scratching, Grincheux stormed away for a dominant 3-¼ length over Determined Lass in the Spring Racing At Kembla Grange Class 2 Handicap (1500m).
Penza had a double when he piloted Nazzak to a fighting victory for James Cummings.
Returning to a dry surface after failing on a heavy track last start, the four-year-old led from start to finish and held off the fast-finishing Wild Ava in a driving go to the post.
Lad About Town, trained by Kerry Parker, completed the treble.
The home track specialist always reserves his best for Kembla Grange and won the Markey Saddlery Benchmark 59 Handicap (1400m) on Saturday.
All of the six-year-old’s three career wins have come at the Illawarra Turf Club.
Mitchell Bell also chalked up a double, with wins on Skilful and The Gavel.
