The Fury were beaten 4-2 by an impressive Albion Park White Eagles outfit at WIN Stadium on Sunday.
It denied Kemblawarra a title double after the Fury took home the League Championship crown last month. However, McGuire still felt the campaign had been a success and couldn’t speak highly enough of the newly-merged club.
“I think the club has been fantastic for us this year,” McGuire, who completed his first season in charge at the Fury, said.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the committee and the supporters.
“I think they have given us every opportunity to be successful this year and that’s what has been the best part about it.
“To the players, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
“To have done what we have done and achieve what we have has been fantastic.”
The Fury were always in the hunt in a captivating decider.
They scored first through Fabian Iacovelli before staging a late fightback when they were 3-1 down.
A Cameron Morgan header at the back post set up a nervy final end to the match, but the White Eagles managed to fight Kemblawarra off to secure their first title since 2008.
“I thought when we got back to 3-2 we were in with a chance,” McGuire said.
“We have been battling [injuries] for most of the second half of the season so to get in here I think it was great.”
