Renowned designer Linda Jackson, who’s been labelled a “pioneer in Australian fashion” by Vogue, took some time out from her artist residency at Wollongong Art Gallery to host some free school holiday workshops.

On Tuesday, Jackson taught children aged five to eight about the Australian bush using collage during, similar to how she created prints for children’s t-shirts in the 1980’s.
Other activities for the kids these school holidays include:
- Wednesday September 28: Spotlight walk twilight adventure at Blackbutt Forest in Shellharbour, 5.15pm-7.15pm. Hear about the amazing natural environment and the nocturnal creatures that call this place home.
- Until September 30: Mini Master Chef cooking classes at Towradgi Beach Hotel. Perfect for ages 4 to 10, $15 per child.
- Until September 30: The Wollongong Botanic Garden activities include a treasure hunt, plunderers crafts and Captain Compost Garden Show – 10am to 1pm.
- October 3-9: Free Good Dinosaur activities in Wollongong Central. Take the kids back in time and travel into Arlo's world with this immersive interactive zone.
- Until October 1: Free Star Wars activities at Stockland Shellharbour,11am-2pm. Join the fight for the galaxy and experience the Star Wars Universe in the junior immersive zone, daily In centre court outside Woolworths
- Friday October 7: The popular Twilight Markets will return to Flagstaff Hill with stalls trading from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
- Friday October 7: Symbio Junior Keeper Camp, 10am to 3pm. If your kids enjoy getting up close to nature and hanging out in the “wild” then Symbio Wildlife Park’s Junior Keeper Camp’s are the perfect holiday adventure.
- Mondays and Wednesday until the end of school holidays: Hangdog Junior Program – for beginners or relative newcomers to the sport of climbing, open to ages 10 to 18, 4pm to 6pm.
