One Illawarra band will be told to pack their bags Friday night, to accompany Bulli country-rock star James Stewart Keene at the upcoming Airlie Beach Festival of Music.

The final of the Passport to Airlie Band Competition to find the hottest new original group will be played on at The Oaks Hotel at Albion Park Rail.
The Zilzies, Roses in Hand, Smokehouse, Nathan Lamont Band, She Makes Pop and As We Fall will each have to play three originals in the hope of scoring $1000 cash and head to Queensland.
They’ll also be included in the main stage lineup which boasts Tim Finn, Daryl Braithwaite, Richie Ramone, The Potbelleez and GANGgajang.
"We've had everything from soloists, duos and of course bands playing a variety of styles, from blues, indie pop ska, alternative country, alternative rock, punk pop and classic rock [over the past four weeks of heats],” Keene said.
The final starts at 7:30pm.
