The Facebook competition will run throughout October to mark Mental Health Month NSW, which in itself is part of a national mental health campaign highlighted by World Mental Health Day on October 10.
‘’In any given year 20 per cent of the population experiences mental health issues, 45 per cent in their lifetime, so it is a significant issue,’’ ISPIR team leader, Jenny Valdivia said.
“Our organisation supports people with enduring mental health issues and complex support needs by linking them up with services to suit them.
“We are passionate about supporting people in need and promoting community discussion to normalise conversations about mental illness.’’
To participate in the Mental Health Month Facebook competition simply like and share ISPIR’s page – www.facebook.com/IllaShoalPIR, then post a picture of something that improves your mental health and then tag ISPIR in the post.
The competition ends October 31, with the winner to be announced soon after, sent a family pass to Shoalhaven Zoo valued at $70.

Meantime, ARAFMI Illawarra will also hold its fourth annual Walk of Pride on October 13 in Wollongong. The event is about compassion, hope and pride.
“We would like to see the community come together and find acceptance and understanding as mental illness touches all of our lives in one way or another.’’
