The Bega product capped it off with the women’s Dally M award on Wednesday night, all but confirming her status as the best player in the women’s game.
It’s just the latest in a swag of honours to come her way this year, including player of the match in NSW’s breakthrough women’s State of Origin win over Queensland and the Blues player of the year gong.
She was also named best on ground in The Tigerlillies fifth Women in Defence League grand final victory. It’s a season most of her male counterparts would be proud of and few have produced.
JD MAKES BIG CALLS
It’s one thing for a coach to tinker with combinations, it’s another to do it with everything on the line.
That’s precisely what Cutters coach Jason Demetriou did in making the unexpected call to bench star half Drew Hutchison for his preliminary final clash with Newtown.
He made an equally bold move in starting his halves partner – and first choice goal-kicker – Shaun Nona from the bench against Mounties in last week’s grand final.
Both gambles paid off big with Hutchison playing a starring role in the second half against the Jets and Nona was instrumental in wresting back momentum in the second stanza against Mounties.
It’s not hard to see why he’s widely touted as an NRL coach of the future.
