Hundreds of households living in social housing in the Illawarra will now be able to rate the performance of contractors called out to jobs via www.facs.nsw.gov.au/review
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward said it’s part of a new approach to ensure vulnerable people had better services.
It comes new maintenance contracts were brought in earlier this year to get jobs done faster, with fewer callbacks.
“The new contracts also provide opportunities for people living in social housing to get skills, training and apprenticeships as contractors are required to hire local tenants,” Mr Ward said.
“For the first time, calls to the maintenance line are being processed by local call centres and this has created more than 60 jobs in regional NSW.”
Tenants requiring maintenance are encouraged to call 1800 422 322 to speak to the contractor for their area.
