The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for higher parts of the region, due to a low pressure system over Tasmania.
The low will continue to slowly move south/southeast on Friday night and during Saturday, with a vigorous northwest to southwesterly airstream across NSW expected to ease slowly as the system moves further away.
“Damaging winds, averaging 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are forecast over parts of the central and northern ranges and through the Hunter this evening and Saturday morning, with elevated areas the most susceptible.
A 67km/h wind gust was recorded at Bellambi at 12.41pm on Friday, with a 51km/h gust registered at Albion Park about 1.45pm.
Winds are expected to gradually ease during Saturday.
