Woman assaulted in East Nowra home: police

Police are appealing for help from the public after a woman was sexually assaulted in her East Nowra home last night.

Shortly before 10pm, a man forced his way into the Jaycee Avenue home. The man, who had a knife, threatened the 28-year-old female occupant before sexually assaulting her.

He then fled the home with cash and personal items.

Officers from Shoalhaven Area Command attend the home and established a crime scene.

Police searched the area, with the help of the Dog Unit, however they were unable to locate the man.

The man was described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 170cm to 175cm tall, of a heavy build with dark eyes.

Anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area or who may have seen the man is urged to contact Nowra police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
